OLAM OFIS (Android app for Olam Farmer Information System)
Olam International is a leading agri-business operating from seed to shelf in 65 countries, supplying food and industrial raw materials to over 13,800 customers worldwide. Their team of 23,000 employees has built a leadership position in many businesses including cocoa, coffee, cashew, rice and cotton.
Olam’s Farmer Information System (OFIS) is now being rolled out to develop a database and map all cocoa farmers within the initiatives. To facilitate this they required an Android app which could be distributed to the farmers so that they could easily fill in questionnaire modules, details of themselves and social infrastructures (such as schools, health centres, clean water supplies and buying centre).
This Android app was specifically built so that farmers could fill all of the information in offline, and then submit it when they get to an internet connection. This app was successfully delivered in under 2 months and is now live collecting data.
